Throwback Thursday- Ornamental Pine

I liked this pine sprig when it came out. I thought I would use it a lot, but only managed to create a couple of cards with it.

I decided to try a different technique with the ornaments. I used foil paper and I embossed it with silver and gold embossing powders. I do like the results. I stamped the pine branch over and over to get the look of a full Christmas tree.

I used both Ornamental Pine and Christmas Messages stamp sets to create this card.

Have a blessed day,

Throwback Thursday- Truly Grateful

I know a few people who make Thanksgiving cards and send them out, but it is too much work to do cards for Thanksgiving and Christmas (IMHO). But this set can be used for fall cards that say thank you to special people in your life. It is always good to be thankful and we need to incorporate it into our everyday lives, not just at Thanksgiving time.

I'm thankful for you...the people all around the world, who take time to look at my blog to see what I have crafted, who occasionally leave a comment of encouragement or commendation and who place orders through my Stampin' Up! store so that I can continue to create cards and post tutorials for you. Thanks!

This set is called, Truly Grateful.

Have a blessed day,
Trude

Throwback Thursday- The Newborn King

I thought I would do something different with this card, so I made a tri-fold. The main image has a natural dividing line that made it easy to do. I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the two parts, but it would have been easier to just cut the stamp at that point.

The folded card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/2". The flaps are both two and a half inches wide. It isn't real easy to tell from the photo that I heat embossed everything with silver embossing powder. It looks great on the Midnight Muse cardstock.

Throwback Thursday- Fifth Avenue Floral

I purchased this stamp set several years ago. I wanted to play with it and do some color blending and other watercolor techniques that I saw on You Tube. The set retired before I had a chance to play with it so it just sat neglected and unused on my shelf.

So I decided that Throwback Thursday would be a good time to do some playing and sharing! I like how this card turned out. I used the new watercolor pencils for the Daffodil Delight areas and then I used an Aqua Painter and Melon Mambo for the Pink areas. After I had the flowers colored, I sprayed them with water to help the colors blend. Then on one of the flowers I added a little more Melon Mambo to some of the petal edges.

I think this is a card that will go to my mom. She loves roses. She used to paint them too.

Have a blessed day,
Trude

Throwback Thursday # 30

Another Episode of Throwback Thursday!

I have had too many other things to keep me distracted and busy and I haven't had the opportunity to pull out a retired stamp set and create a card, so today I decided to go for it!

Here is my creation...

Botanical Garden, Stampin' Up!, #stampinup, Stamp with Trude, greeting card, floral, Throwback Thursday

I used a set called Botanical Garden.

It is always tricky to photograph shiny materials. There are multiple shiny surfaces on this card. The Panel with the iris is glossy white paper that Stampin' Up! used to carry. The frame behind it is silver foil paper and is still available. The background is also embossed and inked on glossy white paper. The silver satin ribbon is still available.

I used the Elegant Dots embossing folder to emboss the background. Then I used a Happy Pattern stencil over the top and spritzed it with Wisteria Wonder reinker mixed with rubbing alcohol in a Stampin' Spritzer. I like the way it turned out and the technique is real easy!

Throwback Thursday # 30 Be Very Merry

I just discovered that this cute little card didn't get posted to my blog, so I thought I would share it for a Throwback Thursday.
I think it is a card that I created from a Mojo Monday sketch, which means it should have posted to my blog about 2 years ago! Better late than never, I guess.

, Throwback Thursday, Stamp with Trude, Christmas Card, retired sets
I used some beautiful Christmas Designer Series paper for the center stripe. The snowflake is die cut from silver glimmer paper.

Did you know that you can still get the Snow Flurry snowflake punch from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog? The coordinating stamp set is also available.

Throwback Thursday # 27 Paint Prints Poinsettia

I don't think this stamp set was intended to be a Christmas stamp set but it is fun to see what happens when we try different things.

This stamp set is one that Stampin' Up! offered in 2005. It was a hostess set and is called Paint Prints.

I decided to use the rectangle, that is in the set, to create a background mosaic. I could have used it horizontally to create a brick pattern instead, but I like the mosaic effect for this holiday card.

This is the first time I have used this cute little set. I think I purchased it at a thrift store several years ago. I decided to use it in an unconventional way...as a Christmas card. There are more penguins in the set and one may just end up as a Valentines Day card ☺.

Throwback Thursday # 25 Nature's Wonders

I guess this will be the last fall card for this year. I used the Nature's Wonders stamp set. I think it would make beautiful cards using the stamps individually, but I decided to use all of them on one card. I like how it turned out.

Throwback Thursday # 24

Welcome back to Throwback Thursday.

Today I used the card bases that I created for Wednesday 201- Beyond the Basics to create the cards.

CHristmas cards, Stampin Up, Trude Thoman, Stamp with Trude, Throwback Thursday, scrappy crafts, scraps, Beyond the Basics

See how easy it is to create cards with your scraps? All it takes is a few added embellishments, nothing overwhelming because the backgrounds already have a lot going on.

Find your scrap bin and start creating!

The only things that aren't retired on these cards are:
The tag created with the tag framelit
The Noel framelit
The Whisper White card stock

Throwback Thursday Friends Card

This stamp set is very sweet and I have usually seen it used with spring colors and florals. But in Oregon it rains in any season. So I thought that I would try using it with fall colors and papers. I think it turned out just as cute. What do you think?

Throwback Thursday # 17

I couldn't get a photo of this card that is a true-to-life image. I think it is just too glossy and golden. With a little help from PicMonkey it is very close.

Kindness Shared, Stampin' Up!, Trude Thoman, Throwback Thursday, polished stone technique, vellum, greeting card
I used the polished stone technique to create the background for this card. Then I used the heart stamp to stamp all over the background using the new Stampin' Up! archival ink pad.

I also tried the new archival ink on the vellum overlay and it worked great. I used my heat tool to dry it and it dried really quick without warping the vellum at all!

I really wanted to put some ribbon and an antique looking bow on this card but I didn't have any ribbon that would work. Oh well.
