Journal It! # 129

Journal it! 129

Here's today's prompt,

Tell about a teacher or classmate who made a big impact on your life.

Write the prompt in your journal and Journal It!

Hey, Girl
Was it a best friend?

When I was in fifth grade there was a sixth grader that was so positive and upbeat all the time that I really wanted to be like her. She was fun to be around, no complaining, gossiping or drama.

Have a blessed day,
Trude

Throwback Thursday # 14

Welcome back to Throwback Thursday. This week I pulled out another snowman stamp set called 'Frosty'. I've just been pulling stamp sets from the front and rotating them to the back when I'm done with them so it is rather random that I am sharing 2 snowmen cards on 2 consecutive Thursdays.

Throwback Thursday, Stampin' Up!, Trude Thoman, Stamp with Trude, Frosty, Christmas card,
The sparkles on this card don't show up very well in this photo. Perhaps if you click on the photo you can see the glitter that I added to the snowflakes, snowman and greeting. This card is 4" x 6" instead of the standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Retired products I used:
Bashful Blue 12" x 12" card stock
Blendabilities
Frosty stamp set

Current products I used:
Dimensionals to pop up Frosty
New framelits from the 2015 Holiday catalog- square pillow box set
Dazzling Details glitter
Marina Mist ink
Memento Tuxedo black ink
Silver foil paper
Whisper White card stock

Have a blessed day,

Trude

Wednesday 101 - Rubber Stamping - The Basics

I am too busy to blog today...

Playing with my grandson is more important when I only get to see him once or if I am very lucky twice a year!

I am going to let Stampin' Up! teach you about heat embossing today. Videos are a great way to learn new things.

Some notes on this video:
1) personally, I like to store my embossing powders in shallow Rubbermaid or similar containers that are about 4" x 6". Keep a spoon in the container and then hold the stamped piece to be embossed over the container and spoon the embossing powder over the stamped image and let it slide right back into the storage container. I don't bend the project like she did to get the embossing powder back into the tiny little container. I also tap the edge or the back of the paper while I am holding it over the container so that any excess embossing powder will fall back into the container instead of being blown across the project the first time the blast of air from the heat tool hits it.

2) If you use a larger container like I suggest, the embossing powder won't spill all over your work surface where it can mess up the project you are working on, or get stuck to your work surface as you are heating the project.

3) Use tweezers to hold the project (to keep your fingers out of the heat) while you use the heat tool to melt the powder. Don't set your project down on your working surface while you are heating it, the work surface under your project acts like a heat sink and pulls heat away from the paper which means that you will have to apply heat longer to get the embossing powder to melt. Sometimes that can cause the paper to get singed. Brown spots around your embossed image are not what you had planned! (or maybe you did want that effect!)

Now for the video:

Here's another prompt for your journal:

What was your favorite television or radio show as a child? Tell about it.

Write the prompt in  your journal and Journal It!

Wilderness Awaits
We liked to watch all kinds of nature programs; Wildlife Safari, National Geographic specials, etc. That is, if we could get to a television. We didn't always have one when I was growing up!

Have a blessed day,
Trude
