Throwback Thursday Friends Card

This stamp set is very sweet and I have usually seen it used with spring colors and florals. But in Oregon it rains in any season. So I thought that I would try using it with fall colors and papers. I think it turned out just as cute. What do you think?

Wednesday 201- Beyond the Basics

Welcome back to another addition of Wednesday 201- Beyond the Basics!

Today I want to show you a technique that I have just started to explore. You can create watercolor-like stamped cards. Here's How:

Choose a stamp...an outline image works well for this technique.
Use markers to color it in if it has different areas that would look good in different colors. Here I colored the center with Calypso Coral and the petals with Melon Mambo.

Mist the stamp with water until it beads up on the colored areas. I did try this several times with scratch paper until I got a 'feel' for the amount of water that worked best.

Stamp on watercolor paper or card stock. I got good results with both but for this piece I used watercolor paper. The intensity of the ink will vary, just as in a water-colored piece. I used a sponge dauber to daub on some So Saffron ink onto the bees after they dried.

And, here is the card that I created with the water-colored piece.

Tuesday Tutorial # 20 Fall Panel Card

I finally got another Tuesday Tutorial completed. It has been such a challenge for me to update my blog lately. It just seems like I keep getting things 'thrown' at me.

I got rear-ended last week, so now I am doing doctor visits/ physical therapy twice a week and now on top of it I have a cold that is slowing me down. I guess it is true that when it rains, it pours!

Here's the card I created

Scrapbook Sunday

Here's another fun fall scrapbook page. It would be fun to have a big leaf rake against the tree trunk background. I would've had to hand draw and cut one...don't know if Cricut has one available on a cartridge or not. I used two Stampin' Up! stamp sets; Acorny Thank you and Vintage Leaves.

Trude Thoman, Stamp with Trude, Stampin' Up!, Vintage Leaves, Acorny Thank you, fall, autumn, scrapbook page
I used the Fringe scissors to create the grass. I used two layers of grass in two different colors. The darker color is behind (Garden Green and Always Artichoke).
I used Tip Top Taupe for 2 of the acorns...it looks gray in this photo. It is a tad browner in actuality.

I would also use this layout with a portrait layout photo. That would even leave enough room for a journal card. You could also do a two page layout with the second page layout being opposite of this one.

This page has enough room to move the photo down a tad and add a headline and/or you could also add a caption box underneath the photo.

Wednesday 201- Beyond the Basics

Hello,
Today I am going to share with you the wet wipe technique (also known as the baby wipe technique).
It is easy to do and adds another technique to your list of accomplishments!
I think this technique is a good one to learn because on certain stamps it can save a LOT of time. Last year I used it on a Christmas wreath stamp. Once you have the wet wipe inked up it is ready to do a bunch of cards before you need to reink it, so you can stamp a stack quickly.

Here's how:

Choose three or four reinkers. Here I am doing a fall card so I chose Delightful Dijon, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and Pear Pizzazz.

Put the wet wipe on a plate and dot the wet wipe with reinkers randomly until you have an area inked that is the size of the stamp you will be using.

Ink up your stamp with the ink that is on the wet wipe. For this stamp I inked it and stamped it three times varying the angle of the stamp slightly each time.

Today is die cutting day! I used die cuts to create this card. If you need a quick card this card is quick to make. The only stamping is the sentiment on the inside of the card.

Scrapbook Sunday # 19

I am still struggling with using the Project Life embellishment packs. I wanted to make this a quick page, but I wanted to see how I could incorporate some of the embellishments.
I decided to use some of the little hearts around the cute picture of my grandson. Then I used a 'Perfect Picture' banner on the group photo.
I put some flowers up by the box where I am going to write the title. Then I used an arrow to point at the cute picture of my grandson.
I then found the little bag of camera paper clips that came in the embellishment package so I added that to a photo. In another little bag there was a sheet of yellow bubbles, so I used 3 of those on another photo.
I am happy with this page because I want the photos to be the main focus, not the embellishments, but I didn't think the addition of a few small elements really distracted from anything.
Scrapbook Sunday, Stamp with Trude, Project Life, Lets Get Away, scrapbook page
I also added the banner to the grandson's photo. I thought maybe I could use it for a clever word or phrase. The only embellishment that is actually on a photo is the paper clip. All the other stickers are stuck to the pocket page.
What do you think?

Thanks for looking! Have a blessed day,
Trude

Throwback Thursday # 19

This week I am again using a stamp from Wonderful Woodcuts because it is another nautical stamp. This one could be used for several occasions, not just Father's Day.

Again I also used some of the Maritime Designer Series Paper, but I also used some of the paper from the retired Designer Series Paper Regal Background stack.

The Globe and anchor are from The Open Sea stamp set.

Wednesday 201- Stamping Beyond the Basics

I decided that I should actually change the name of today's post because it really isn't about Basic stamping. You don't need special techniques when you are learning the basics. So this is really beyond the basics.

Today's Technique is shadow stamping.

First I stamped Flowering Flourishes in Chocolate Chip ink onto Soft Sky card stock.

Then I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig and VersaMark watermark ink to stamp a 'shadow' next to the first stamped image.
Stamp-a-ma-Jig, shadow stamping, Trude Thoman, Stampin' Up!, Stamp with Trude, greeting card, Flowering Flourishes, Wednesday 201, Beyond the basics
Here's the card I created. Yes, the effect is very subtle on this card stock. On some other card stocks it shows up more. Something interesting to experiment with anyway.

Hope you enjoyed this technique. I'd love to hear what you did with it and how it worked for you!

Have a blessed day,
Trude

Scrapbook Sunday # 18

Here's a quick 2-page layout that I created for my grandson's third birthday photos. I didn't put any journaling cards on these pages because it is going to be a part of a continuing spread and other pages with have the pertinent information.

I used a fancy 12" x 12" sheet from a retired Designer Series paper pack called 'Birthday Bash'. The polka dot paper is currently in the catalog. It is one of the designs in the Brights Designer Series paper stack.

The Tangerine Tango is from the current catalog. It is in the paper set 'Sweet Li'l Things'.

The cupcake liners were punched from 'Color Me Irresistible Designer Series Paper and then I sponged them with Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy and Cucumber Crush inks.

Have a blessed day,
Trude
