Tuesday Tutorial # 14 Mini Treat Bag

This week we are using the tutorial from last week.
Last week we learned 2 ways to dye twine and ribbon. This week we are going to use the twine, ribbon and the paper that we sprayed and dried the twine and ribbon on. So if you need last week's tutorial, get it now!

Here's this week's project...

Scrapbook Sunday # 4

Have you been to Octoberfest? We like to go to the one in Mt. Angel, Oregon. It is during September and the weather is usually warm and beautiful.
Last year we took a friend who had only been in Oregon a couple of years and had never attended one. We had a good time watching the children do the May Pole dance, attending the Alpenhorn concert, and watching the Tyrolean Dancers.
There are also booths of hand crafted items and food booths sponsored by various charitable organizations.
Here's the scrapbook page I made of our visit this year.
I realize that I could have made 2 or 3 pages with these 4 photos, but I decided I really didn't want to take up that many pages in my album for this one event. I don't usually do much cropping to photos, but in this instance I decided that it would enhance the page if the photos were cropped. The top photo was left full size because I wanted to show some of the buildings in the center of town along with the Tyrolean Dancers. The May Pole dance photo was cropped because the buildings and trees behind the May Pole were so distracting that it was hard to see the May Pole. I cropped the Alpenhorn group photo because the people and parking lot behind them were distracting. The bottom photo has the top 1/4 of the photo cropped off because the crowd watching in the background made it hard for the eye to concentrate on the children and what they were doing. All that cropping made it possible to get the photos on the page. There is still enough space around them that it isn't totally overwhelmed.
I used Sahara Sand card stock for the page base. The leaf paper was from last year's Holiday Catalog. I cut close to a line of leaves on the edge of the paper and then chopped it off straight on the left edge and adhered it to the page. First though, I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to stamp splatters and lines all over the base paper. I also used the Gorgeous Grunge stamps on the Project Life grid journal cards that I cropped down to fit in the places for the Title and journaling.
To complete the page I cut out a few leaves from the Designer Series Paper and put them in the open areas of the page.

Blooming With Kindness Thank You Card

Today we are taking another break from April's Paper Pumpkin to check out this Thank You card that I created with retiring In-Color products.

Thank You card, stampwithtrude.blogspot.com , Stampin' Up!, Trude Thoman, Blooming with Kindness, 2013-2015 In Colors, Gorgeous Grunge
I used the In-Color paper stack, Whisper White and Coastal Cabana card stock. The inks are Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, and Rose Red. I used the 'rock and roll' technique on the flower to add a little of the Rose Red around the edges. There's also Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's twine and Washi tape on this card.

To do the tearing technique on this card, hold both top edges even when tearing and then move the Whisper White piece down into place and adhere. I also used the masking technique to keep the Gorgeous Grunge splatter from being all over the top of the bloom.

This card goes together fairly quickly and could be used for a card that you need to make multiple of by just changing out the sentiment to whatever sentiment you may need.

Boys Will be Boys Birthday Card

I'm going to take a break from the April Paper Pumpkin remakes and post this card that I made. It is prefect for a boy's birthday, but I bet there are a few girls that would enjoy it too.

Boys Will be Boys, Stampin' Up!, stampwithtrude.blogspot.com , trude thoman, Gorgeous Grunge, kids birthday card. masculine
I used Tempting Turquoise card stock, Whisper White card stock, and Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper. The inks are Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Tempting Turquoise. I used a word bubble framelit to cut out the birthday greeting.

I used the masking technique to stamp the wall and floor behind the robot.

Have a blessed day,
Trude

Be the Star On Film Birthday Card

I have been searching through my photos to see if I missed posting some of my cards. I think that I CASEd this card from a Stampin' Up! publication, but I haven't located the original.

stampwithtrude.blogspot.com, Stampin' Up! birthday card, Gorgeous Grunge, Be the Star stamp sets, On Film framelit die set
I used the On Film Framelit dies and a Big Shot to cut the film strip and arrow.
I used Be the Star stamp set for the focal piece and Gorgeous Grunge stamp set for the background.

The little dots are Silver foil paper punched out with the regular size paper punch.

I also die cut a small silver glimmer paper star for the center of the focal point star.

Have a blessed day!

Valentine's Day Card

Too Busy To Stamp!
Have you ever been too busy to stamp? I try hard NOT to be that busy. Sometimes other things just stack up on me and I don't get into my studio for a few days, or get on the computer to post anything on my blog for a few days. Well, that is how it has been for me the last few days.

Here's a look at what kept me out of my stamp room on Friday.

Yup, we visited Mt Angel for Octoberfest. Susie, my husband and I had a long day walking around the town, checking out the antique stores, craft booths, food booths and the performers at the bandstand. We had a warm, wonderful day.

Stampin' Up! Valentine's Day card by Trude Thoman http://stampwithtrude.blogspot.com Seasonally Scattered stamp set

Are you ready for Valentine's Day? I know, silly question! It is time to prepare fall and Christmas projects, not time to think about next year's projects and holidays!

I just wanted to show you what I did with one of the sets that are in the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog right now. Stampin' Up! usually puts in a couple of Valentine related items for those of you that like to be ready for holidays 6 months in advance! No that is not really me, I usually am only a month or two at the most, ahead of the holiday.

This set is called Seasonally Scattered and it is on page 43 in the Holiday catalog.
I used Blushing Bride, Whisper White, and Real Red card stocks, plus red glimmer paper for the punched hearts.

Tip: I added Dazzling Details glitter to the Cherry Cobbler embossing powder to add a little more sparkle to the card.

The white striped lines and the white "splatter" are from the Gorgeous Grunge set, stamped with craft white ink. I also used the Chalk Marker to fill in the word inside the Scattered Sentiment.

If you are curious about what kept me from my stamping studio on Sunday, check back tomorrow!

Thanks for checking out my blog today!
Have a Blessed Day,
Trude

Something for Baby Card

Stampin' Up! Something for Baby baby card

Stampin' Up! baby card, Something for baby stamp set, card created by Trude Thoman http://stampwithtrude.blogspot.com

This is a quick card. It should take under 10 minutes. Cut and fold a Whisper White card base. Adhere 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" chocolate chip card stock to the front. Cut a 3" x 5 1/2" Whisper White card stock piece and use an aqua painter to apply a stripe of Coastal Cabana ink (either use a drop of reinker or squish the lid on the ink pad and pick up the color from the inside of the lid).

Use the small grunge splatter stamp to stamp some splatter across the card. I think I may have stamped it off one time before stamping to decrease the intensity. Stamp the baby buggy with chocolate chip ink and the hello baby also.

Adhere to card front about 1/2" from top, there should be about 3/4" remaining at the bottom. Apply the Washi tape across the bottom and a strip above the buggy and you are done! Wasn't that easy?!

Thank you for joining me in my craft room today!
Happy Day,
Trude

I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, the Wondrous Wreath stamp set and the For All Things stamp set. The first set is in the annual catalog and the last 2 are in the new holiday catalog.

I used Very Vanilla card stock for the bottom layer on the card front then I stamped the leaves on Whisper white card stock. I stamped the house with Jet Black Sazon and watercolored it with an aqua painter and ink. I stamped the trees and then colored the leaves in with cotton swabs.

 Happy Stamping!

I would love to hear if you have used it, or if it is on your wish list. Sooo... I have a set of 3 stamps from the April 2013 Paper Pumpkin Kit that I am going to give away as blog candy when you tell me if you have the set and how much you use it. I will go to random.org on Sunday, August 10th to pick a random winner from the comments. The deadline for comments is Saturday, August 9th at 11:59 PM. I will post the winner after noon on Sunday.

* Here's a hint about cutting out the On Film Framelit...put a piece of waxed paper between the die and the card stock. Your die cut will be easier to remove if you do!

Well, that's it for today. Please leave a comment! I would love to hear from you and be your Stampin' Up! contact if you don't have a demo already!

Happy Stamping,
Trude

3rd of 5 CASEd Stampin' Up! Cards

Hello,
Welcome back to my blog for the 3rd card in the series of Stampin' Up! CASEd cards.

Have you found all the cards, so far, in the Occasions catalog?

stampwithtrude.blogspot.com Gorgeous Grunge Stampin' Up! greeting card

I used a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" folded Whisper White card stock base to build my card on, but it would look great using a Very Vanilla card base or the Naturals Ivory card stock for the base. I then layered a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of Hello Honey card stock onto the base.

For the next layer I used Naturals Ivory card stock. I spritzed it with Delightful Daffodil reinker mixed with alcohol in a Stampin' Spritzer. You could use Hello Honey, I just used what I already had made up from a previous project. Then I used two different Gorgeous Grunge stamps. I stamped the medium size splatter several times with Hello Honey ink. Each time I stamped off once to remove some of the ink so it wouldn't be as intense when I stamped it on the paper. I then used the long stripe stamp with Tangerine Tango, also stamped off before stamping on the card. Then I sponged the edges with Tangerine Tango.

Next I used a Starburst framelit to cut a piece of Flowerpot Designer Series Paper. I adhered it to the Naturals Ivory card stock, tucking a piece of Hello Honey 3/8" stitched satin ribbon under the lower right corner, and used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges twice. Then I adhered the piece to the card base.

Then I used a sentiment from the Feel Goods stamp set and stamped with Jet Black Stazon ink onto a piece of Naturals Ivory card stock. After stamping the sentiment I used a circle framelit to cut it out (it just barely fits, so alignment is very precise). I used Hello Honey ink to stamp the sun rays from Kinda Eclectic stamp set, which I stamped off once first so that it wouldn't be as intense. I adhered the circle to the left side of the Sunburst background to complete the card.

That's it for today. I hope you are enjoying this series and will come back tomorrow to check out what I am up to!

Have a Wonderful Day!
Trude

Peachy Keen Card

Have you tried using the Stampin' Up! Peachy Keen set yet? I haven't really pulled it out to play with yet, so I thought that it was a good time.
I thought maybe the heart that is in the set could be made into a peach. It worked fairly well. I'm sure I will be able to use the other stamps for various projects, but I need some ideas for the Peachy Keen sentiment! If you have some, please leave a comment! I've kind of used up my ideas on this one!
